Scheme of Education - The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and follows the 10+2 system of education. It prepares the students for the All India Secondary and Senior Secondary Examinations conducted by CBSE. The school has a well qualified and experienced faculty of around 35 staff giving an enviable teacher student ratio of 1:15. Medium of instruction is English, though Hindi is taught as compulsory subject right from the initial class and its adequate knowledge is compulsory for promotion to higher classes. The students are tested regularly through class tests, besides two terminal tests and final examination in the month of March. At the senior secondary level all three streams of Science, Humanities and Commerce are offered. However choice of stream/subject is permitted as per offer by the school and marks obtained in Board Examination. Computer is offered as an optional subject at senior secondary level. Private tuitions are not permitted in the school, however limited tuition can be arranged for specific needs of students on payment through school teachers. Admission Procedure – Boys and Girls seeking admission in class III should be 7 years of more but less than 8 years in age as on 30th September of the year in which prospectus is being purchased, are eligible for admission in class III. Admission to higher classes is offered occasionally in case seats fall vacant due to some reason. Age eligibility for admission to higher classes will also require the same co-relation between age and class. For determining the age eligibility, DOB certificate issued by Municipality/Govt. Hospital alone shall be accepted. The All India Notification inviting applications on prescribed proforma is issued to all Indian Railways normally in the month of August. The application for admission should be made in the form enclosed with the prospectus Annexure - A. The prospectus can be obtained from the Principal's office during the period from 01st September to 20th October during office hours or by post on payment of prescribed charges. When ordered by post, the charges should be sent only by Bank Draft for Rs. 250/-, payable at the State Bank of India, Oak Grove School Branch (Code No. 6568), Jharipani in favour of Principal, Oak Grove School, P.O. Jharipani, Distt. Dehradun (UA) Pin 248152. The request for the issue of prospectus after 20th October will not be entertained and the cost of prospectus sent by the applicant will not be refundable under any circumstances. The last day for submitting the duly filled up application form is 20th October. On receipt of the prospectus the application form for admission contained in the prospectus must be filled and sent by 20th October accompanied with a Bank Draft of Rs.200/- i.e. admission test fee drawn in favour of Principal, Oak Grove School, Jharipani, payable at State Bank of India, Oak Grove School Branch (Code No. 6568), Jharipani should be attached with the admission form without which the application form will not be considered. (Bank draft drawn on any other Bank or Branch will not be accepted). The name of the candidates along with class should be written on the back of the draft. The admission test fee of Rs. 200/- is not refundable even if a candidate fails to attend the admission test on any ground. Receipt of application form is not separately acknowledged by the school, it may therefore be sent by Registered A/D post if desired. School does not entertain any correspondence regarding admission till the admission is finalised. Admission Test – Admission for class III is granted on the basis of performance of the child in the Entrance Test which is conducted on the last Sunday of November at Dehradun. Short listed candidates are called for interview at Dehradun or school premises. Admission Test basically aims at judging the aptitude of the child in Maths, English and General Knowledge with special emphasis on understanding of English Language and proficiency in spoken and written English. The child is tested for a level which is one class lower than that for which admission is sought. Admission to class XI is offered, in case the seats are vacant, on the basis of performance in class X Board Examinations in the month of June. A written aptitude test and viva-voce is held before admission is granted in class XI. The school offers all the three streams: Science, Humanities and Accounts besides Computer as an option in classes XI and XII. The application form seeking admission to class XI is to be forwarded between 2nd to 12th June to the Principal's Office. Combined five seats are reserved for the wards of NRIs and Old oakgrovians.
Session – The school session is from April to March with two vacations one from 3rd June to 23rd June and the other from 1st December to 31st January. Home Final Examinations are held in the month of March and Board Final Examinations are held in the month of March/April. No student can stay back at the school during the vacations. |
