CELEBRATIONS
|
Oak Grove represents a microcosm of an Indian panorama and a constant hubbub of activity resounds throughout its hills and vale in the form of following celebrations. Independence Day – Keeping in tune with true nationalistic sentiments the school celebrates Independence Day with traditional hoisting of the Tricolour, guard of honour presentation, spirited speeches by the Captains of the three wings led by the Principal. Gandhi Jayanti – The day when all Oakgrovians pay due homage and reverence to two great sons of India, the Mahatama Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Prayers from holy scriptures of different religions, singing of hymns and bhajans mark these celebrations. Teachers' Day – A day when Young Oakgrovians wish their 'gurus' their deepest regards, gratitude and happiness for being there for them. Creativity and innovative celebrations abound as Classes XII and XI take over the reins for the day. Fancy Fair – The favourite 'happening' thing in Oak Grove is celebrated with all the fun and frolic. Raffle draws, exciting games and mouthwatering goodies, foottapping music by D.J. highlighted the day. Sports Day – Joy and celebrations mark Sports Day as it makes many an athlete a winner and ultimate hard work and team spirit into champions all the way. Founders' Day 2006 – "Education should be as gradual as the moonrise Perceptible not in progress but in result" Oak Grove's 118th year of existence was heralded with the usual celebration, joy and progress. Our distinguished Chief Guest for the 2006 Founders' Day was His Excellency Mr. Sudarshan Agarwal, Governor, Uttrakhand. The function was presided over by Mr. V.N. Mathur, General Manager, Northern Railway and Chairman Board of Governors and his wife Mrs. Nisha Mathur who graciously gave away the coveted prizes and trophies to the deserving students. The valley function was a colourful blend of the PT display, tribal dance, folk dance, liliputian dance and the yoga show by the boys and girls. It was a momentous one for the students as there was a generous giving away of trophies and awards by Oakgrovians to the best students of the three wings of the school and the toppers of the board classes X & XII. Tributes and salutes were paid to our Founding Fathers duly in the form of a cultural programme put up by the students of the three sections whose creativity and affinity to the finer arts were also depicted by the Art, Home Science and Craft exhibitions.
