MISSION OBJECTIVE As part of the wide spectrum of welfare activities of Indian Railways, Oak Grove School aims at providing quality, modern education - as obtainable in English Medium Public Schools - to the wards of railway employees at a highly affordable cost. The school has successfully adapted to the changing times and lays great emphasis on imbibing the values of Indian culture amongst students. The school aims at achieving the highest standard of excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities, as found in the best Public Schools so as to turn out men and women of quality who would do the Railways and society at large, proud of them. DESTINATION Traditionally students who pass out of boarding school opt for careers like Armed Forces, Merchant Navy, Entrepreneurship, etc where they can make full use of the overall personality development and it has been no different with Oak Grove, as a large number of her Alumni occupy high echelons in these fields. A substantial chunk has settled abroad especially in the Continent, USA, Australia and New Zealand and have done extremely well for themselves as well as their Alma Mater, in terms of spreading her name far and wide across the globe. At home careers like IAS, Police, engineering, medicine, media, MBA, etc. have been successfully handled by Oak Grovians and continue to attract new comers in addition to the traditional vocations. THE HEAD The present head of the school is a member of Indian Railway Service, in the rank of Deputy Secretary to the Government of INDIA. He coordinates for all administrative and academic matters of the school. Each of the three sections are headed by Head Mistress and Head Master in the rank of Assistant Director and Deputy Director to the Govt. of INDIA who take care of the day to day responsibilities of academics and related works. THE TEACHING STAFF Around 35 well qualified and well paid teaching staff are round the clock available at the campus to look after the needs of 550 students at an extremely healthy Teacher Student ratio of 1:15. All the Teachers as well as the support staff are provided free /subsidized boarding and lodging as incentives to give out their best. All the staff are qualified as per strict Govt. conditions and are selected after a rigorous screening process. THE PUPILS The school is being run basically as a welfare measure of the Railway staff and their family members, bulk of students naturally come from railway backgrounds wards of serving, retired and on deputation employees of railways are given substantial relief in fees. The student come from a highly career oriented background considering the high level of competition that is generated at the time of admission test. Few seats (25%) are reserved for students who come from outside the railway system. Students from all caste, community and ethnic backgrounds are equally welcome. AFFILIATION The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. RESULTS/EXAMS With a view to impart continuous and comprehensive evaluation the students are internally assessed on the basis of regular unit test and two term examinations, besides the annual examination. In terms of performance in board examination the school has achieved a level where almost all the students aggregate over 75%. On quite a few occasions students have secured 100% in science and mathematics. |
